Technology Tip: Let Me Respond to Your Comments!

This post was originally posted in January 2012. I have received so many request to repost it because it opened so many eyes and helped other bloggers as well.

Love, love, love when I receive comments. They make my day. Honest.

Many comments that are left are questions or statements that deserve some followup. But, if your email address isn't linked to your Google Profile or you don't leave your email address in the post, I can't respond!

Unless it's a giveaway post and I'm receiving comments for entries, I really try to respond to every single comment that I'm left. Even if it's just one that says that you love my blog. Hello! I love your positive feedback. I want to email you back and THANK YOU!

A few months ago Shelley, from The House of Smiths, wrote a blog post on this topic. Now I know why.

I'm going to show you how to change this setting.

This is what I get when I try to reply to a comment without a linked email address: noreply-comment@blogger.com. Boo!

If you comment with your Google account, then it will make you "sign up for Blogger" before leaving your first comment. This doesn't mean you have to create a blog or anything, it just means you have to create a profile with Blogger so you can comment with your Google account. You can change all of the profile details to make it as anonymous as you'd like once you create the profile.

Once you sign up for Blogger, you'll need to go to www.blogger.com to edit your profile.

Then you'll need to click "show my email address" and "save profile". You can change the email address that is associated with this feature on this page as well - under "identity" and "email address". You can always use your "junk mail" account or set up an email with Gmail for this.

Your email address will not literally show up in your Blogger profile. It will show like this:

When you leave a comment for me, I receive an email with your comment, and your email address will automatically be the "reply to" email (if you go through these steps and enable this feature). Pretty simple.

All in all, I'd really like to be able to respond to each one of you. You can always leave your email address in the comment for me like this: tiffany (at) thenesteffect.com. That way it can't be picked up by spam bots because it's not technically a real email typed like that.

Thank you! =]

* You may repost this, as long as you link back to my blog. Thanks! *

The Handiwork of My Father

At the beginning of August I was in Pennsylvania visiting family. I stayed with my father and stepmother for part of the trip. My father is pretty creative and can pretty much create anything out of anything. He never ceases to amaze me. I had to take pictures of his handiwork while I was in to share.

The wooden box above the old soda machine is to house a TV for outside use.

Pool house

This is by far my favorite. The bar stools were purchased off of Craigslist. The base of the table is an old tin house roof. The table is on wheels so it's easy to move around, if needed.

Bridge over the creek {this is where I married last summer}

Log bench

Pretty cool stuff, huh? Be back tomorrow with some technology tips!

Reader Appreciation Week: Giveaway #1 - Rubbermaid LunchBlox Sandwich Kit

Are you ready for the first giveaway?

Rubbermaid never ceases to amaze me. Every single time they send me something to review and giveaway, I am just SO excited.

I'm sure you've seen Rubbermaid's new LunchBlox Sandwich Kits in stores. The first time I saw them at Smith's, I knew I had to have it. Then, as luck had it, I received a message from Rubbermaid a day later asking if I was interested in reviewing and giving away a set. Yes, please!

I've been using my kit for the last week and a half to take to work. I use the bottom, larger container for salad, a sandwich, or pizza. In the two smallest containers I take fruit and veggies. And in the medium size container, I've been taking crackers or another snack. All of the pieces snap together on top of the large container's lid or the ice block. They all stay cold on my way to school AND I feel like I now have some portion control. I absolutely LOVE it.

Rubbermaid has also created other products in the LunchBlox line: salad kit, entree kit, and lunch bag. The LunchBlox Sandwich Kit is currently available for purchase at Rubbermaid.com, Target, Kmart, Kroger, Safeway, Bi-Lo, Winn-Dixie, HEB, other grocery stores, and select Wal-Mart stores.
