January 2013 Challenge {Finance: Week 2}

Budget - a word that automatically makes me feel anxious. I've never been a fan of having a budget because, honestly, we never follow it. It seems like a great idea, but always falls through for us.

Dave Ramsey has been the turn around for us with money management. For us, his plan makes sense.

Dave Ramsey has a free budgeting tool and free budgeting printable worksheets on his website. He also has great information on budgeting here. I started using his free budgeting tools before subscribing to My Total Money Makeover.

I wrote a post last year about budgeting and sell printables/fillable budgeting forms in my Etsy store. Here is one of the monthly budget worksheet pages {from the finances & home information set}. The expense categories are based on Dave Ramsey's budget plan.

This fillable form is from the finances set.
Your challenge today is to create a budget.

  1. I LOVE Dave Ramsey! I just graduated last year and my hub is still in school and we have a baby so i stay home. we are able to live without either of us working from his scholarships and money we have saved from the summer. We also have our savings and have had emergencies, but haven't had to use a credit card because of our savings :) budgets are the BEST! PS I love your blog!!

  2. I am also a fan of Dave Ramsey, though I haven't taken Financial Peace yet. I created a simple spreadsheet budget several years ago, and I'd be LOST without it. I have mine divided into two parts, for bills that need to be paid the 1st and the 15th, which is when I get paid. I also have a place to list my DH's checks and mine, so that we know we're bringing in enough. We are also working through a debt snowball, and budgeting has allowed us to put a sizable chunk of money towards that each month.

    I just discovered your website (through Pinterest) a few days ago, and I am really enjoying your posts. I am setting up my home management binder this weekend, and I'm looking forward to participating in your weekly challenges. I had about $33 in Staples Rewards, so I decided to give their ARC system a try - it's a planner with lots of different components that you can drop in anywhere - very cool.

    Anyways, sorry for the rambling post. Thanks for the great ideas and printables!

  3. Hi, I love reading your blog! I am on an eternal quest to organize my house/family/money.... If you are into personal finances (which I am) you should check out www.gailvazoxlade.com. She is a financial guru here in Canada (have you heard of her TV shows Til Debt do us Part/Princess - they are amazing). She has some great tools on her website (inteactive budgets, recommended %s of what categories your income should go to). Worth checking it out especially if you are motivated to sort our your financial situation. Just thought you might be interested :)

  4. Thanks. Yes, I plan on holding on to the property for appreciation. Mortgage Rates for Refinance allows homeowners to shorten a loan term or secure a lower interest rate.
