It's been awhile since I've completed a project. My parents come in this week for my graduation, so I'm in a rush to get everything all cleaned up!
Yesterday I cleaned the kitchen. It was a mess. I gave it a really good deep clean. This post is super long because it contains before and after photos of my kitchen.
My kitchen is so small, so the pictures are squishy. I hope that when we finally buy a house, we have a decent size kitchen. I can't stand how small this place is.
Okay...don't blink when you move from before to after, you might miss something. You may not see a huge change in some of these pictures. The real change is inside the cupboards.
Luckily, even though the kitchen is small, I can store things on top of the cupboards. It makes it unappealing, but it's needed.
Nothing changed here. =]
The cupboards above the refrigerator store things we don't use often. Since I don't need to access these cupboard on a daily basis, I use the top of the fridge as storage for cereal and dog food.
The sink doesn't have a divider. It's such a pain to do the dishes. I have a little wash basin that fits in the sink that I can fill up to do dishes. If I fill the sink completely, I can't get the drain stopper out. Since there's a garbage disposal, it's not a normal drain stopper. It's a big waste of water anyways and it's too hard to wash and rinse at the same time.
Since buying a coffee maker a few months ago, I had no clue where to put it so that I could use it every day. For the last few months it's been sitting here, in front of the KitchenAid mixer. It's so awkward and was driving me crazy. Since I don't use the mixer that often, I moved it to the top of the fridge and now have a more functional space.
And unfortunately I have to keep the drying rack out because I use it so often, so it takes up my small amount of counter space here.
This is the cupboard above the refrigerator. The after picture is cluttered because it just holds things that I don't use that often. Therefore, it can be cluttered in order to unclutter other cupboards.
I have to show you this because I absolutely love it. This is a food storage container organizer. I got it from The Container Store. I couldn't find it on their website, so maybe they don't sell it anymore. This is so helpful for me because I'm so short and with this organizer I can pull all of the containers and lids down at once to grab what I need.
Not too exciting, I know. I am so happy to have finally cleaned out those cupboards though.

You might think there is not much difference, but you know you did the work. I feel the same way sometimes. Organizing is a never ending story especially in the kitchen. Good Job! Enjoy your family.
ReplyDeleteOur kitchen layout is EXACTLY the same. Exactly. And I have the same problem with the sink being small with no divider. Do you have any tips on what to do with the sink? Based on the description, I couldn't tell what you decided to do. Thanks soooo much!
ReplyDeleteHi Allison,
ReplyDeleteThe only solution I have found with the sink is storing a wash bin under the sink and using it when I want to hand wash dishes. Nothing else has come to mind. =[
