Next week is spring break for my school district. I'm in need of a break.
I have some ideas for next week, including working on projects for future posts.
I have a secret to share...I think April's challenge will be closets.
I think a visit to IKEA is in the works for next week. Target, IKEA, and the dollar store...and maybe Big Lots. Closet and kitchen organization. What do you think?
I need more of these Socker Plant Pots from IKEA. They're only $0.99 each and are great for holding pens, hair clips, markers, name sticks (at school), etc. LOVE them!
My coat closet is organized, but non-functional for my needs. Same goes for my clothes closet. Chris' clothes closet is just a mess. We are lacking a pantry and a linen/bathroom closet in this apartment - so all of the things that belong in those closets are elsewhere. I need to simplify our "material possessions".
What are your closet challenges?

My biggest closet challenge is deciding what to put in the closet and what to put in the dressers. When I first moved out of my parents house I was gifted a full bedroom set with a huge dresser and a huge chest of drawers. I feel like I have too much storage space so its just all a mess because I don't know what to put where.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking I should repurpose one of the pieces of furnature elsewhere (there is so little space in my bedroom with them both in there) but I can't figure out what to put where.
Closets are a huge issue for me. I moved back home 2 years ago to save some money during grad school and I'm still fighting to find places for things. My bedroom was still basically complete when I came home and brought all my "stuff" from my "other life" (as my dad calls it) with me, so now it's just crowded beyond comfort. Plus I keep all my products and books in my bedroom too since I paid for them myself (on my limited budget) and I don't want anyone else wasting them. And my closet is the worst part of it all. It's so small I really can only hang up my dressy/ professional clothes. All my products are in suitcases stuffed up on the top shelf. I guess I just need to do a MAJOR purge and figure out a better organizational method.
ReplyDeleteRight now my issue is a lack of closets! I moved from a condo where my bedroom had a full wall of closets and therefore a dresser was not needed to a two family house with my husband and son where our bedroom has NO closets and he and I still don't have bedroom furniture so there is no place to put anything. My sons room has 2 closets one which holds all my work clothes (which by the way I currently don't fit in since having my son!) plus his infant neccesities and all the clothes he has grown out of!
ReplyDeleteWe are currently in the process of buying a house so I am super excited to organize everything properly once we move in!
My fiance and I are working on combining households (my apartment and his house). We have cleared out THREE closets! Now, like commenter Teresa said, we are having trouble deciding what to put in which closet. Does one closet become holiday decorations or should that get a corner in the basement? Does one closet become only camping gear? Does one closet become a space to hide all my fabric for quilting and the sewing machine?
ReplyDeleteSo many choices and I don't think I registered for nearly enough bins! Can't wait to see your suggestions!
This sounds like a great challenge, I already got started. This past weekend I re-organized our coats closet. It had become our hiding place were things we did not want to see around the house pretty much got dumped in here. I still have the linen, our closet, the kids closet to complete. So I may join the challenge for those. If you want to check out the project I completed please stop by would love to hear your input

Tif...when you're at Ikea would you pick up about 6 of the Socker Plant Pots, and 6 Oradd Plant Pots - Beige (.49 cents each)

I don't have an IKEA and these are sold online:-(
I need to learn to let go of things to help clear out. I'm sure I am storing things in closets that I will never use again and could free up that much more extra space or allow for a more streamlined look. I am looking forward to my summer break from teaching to start my growing to do list.
ReplyDeleteTarget's dollar section has little bins that I think are probably about the same size and they usually have them in cute colors, or themes (hearts for valentines etc..)
