Thank you to E-Mealz & everyone who entered! =]
E-Mealz has teamed up with me this month to offer you a wonderful prize! It goes perfectly with this month's time management topic, and will go great with next month's *soon to be revealed* topic.
I have been using E-Mealz service for the last two weeks and it has really been a time saver for me. I used to be really into meal planning and it saved us time and money every week. Now with my lack of time, I've put meal planning and couponing on the back burner. No good. E-Mealz has made meal planning so easy for me. All I need to do is log in to my account and print the menu each week. All of my meals, along with their ingredients and instructions, are on one page with a categorized grocery list on the second page. There's a section on the grocery list for me to add other items I need as well.
I honestly though that a meal planning service wouldn't be of good use to me because Chris and I are picky, and most recipes have too many servings and we end up with a fridge full of leftovers we'd never eat. E-Mealz has meal plans for two, which is genius. There's enough for leftovers for my lunch for the next day, but not enough to feed an army. And the recipes are surprisingly meals that we've both really enjoyed so far. Love it.
There are lots of options to change your meal plans according to your needs: you can specify what grocery store you shop at and they'll base meals off of what's on sale (if they cover your grocery store) or you can specify dietary restrictions (low-fat, gluten free, low-carb, portion control, and more). Something for everyone.
Here's the blurb E-Mealz gave me to share, giving more info about their company:
E-Mealz relies on a team of experienced meal planners, writers and editors to create new dinner menus every week that are designed around grocery store sales, seasonal specials and diet preferences. For $5.00 per month, subscribers download a recipe plan for the week with a matching aisle-by-aisle grocery list. The easy-to-follow recipes usually contain fewer than seven ingredients to allow for prep times of less than 30 minutes. It also helps families stay within a predictable budget by being prepared with a detailed list to use at the grocery store. For more information, visit their blog (www.maketimeforfamily.org) or Facebook page.
The E-Mealz program provides a consistent and reliable approach to food budgeting by factoring the weekly cost of ingredients into each menu plan. Menus are created around a budget of $75 per week for families and $35 per week for couples.
E-Mealz was created by sisters Jane DeLaney, mother of four, and Jenny Cochran, mother of three. The sisters were frustrated by the challenge of coming up with healthy, budget-conscious meals for their own families and inspired by their own mother’s frugal ways, they launched the program in 2003.
E-Mealz has kindly offered to give one reader a three month membership to their service ($21 value).

I completed all of the January challenge! It really helped me to see what was important to me to get accomplished each day and where I was spending the most time (Pinterest is a huge killer for me too!) So now, I make To-Do lists, both for work and home, and it's really helped me to stay on point. For the most part, my life has turned around organization-wise! Thank you!

E-Mealz seems like an AMAZING resource! I will definitely continue to look into it more, but my fiance and I would choose the Couple Plan since we just cook for the two of us and like to save money on our grocery shopping. Right now we seem to be spending between $60-$80 on groceries EACH WEEK which seems crazy. We're getting married this summer and both trying to lose weight so I would compare the low fat and low carb plans!

I just found your challenge a couple of days ago but am planning to go back and do the entire month challenge. I look forward to next months challenge.

I just found your blog... but my personal challenge this month was to get done some of the things I keep putting off... and to stop wasting so much time in front of the t.v.
ReplyDeleteI have made an effort to do a couple chores each night after work before supper and before the t.v. goes on... it's so easy to check a couple things of the to-do list if you break it down into smaller tasks. I have always been crazy about to-do lists, it's so easy to track your progress that way

Bummer, I just found your blog this week through pinterest, and I'm still going back and reading older posts, so I didn't do this month's challenge, but I'll have to look into this emealz thing because the grocery budget is exactly what I'm working on in this season! Amazing! Thanks for the recommendation!
ReplyDeleteI hit the majority of my goals. Had a hard time staying motivated to get my schedule in motion.
ReplyDeleteI follow by RSS feed btw.
Just found your blog last night so I haven't caught up on reading it yet. Great stuff though! I'm usually skeptical of the meal planning because I have an MSG allergy and can't do most of the processed "cream of this" soup and things but the Whole Foods Natural one sounds like it could actually work for me and the family!

ReplyDeleteI found the project planning template really helpful. Typically when I have a project, I lose steam halfway through. Taking the time to write down the steps and what I'll need to complete the project keeps me on track and gives me incentives to move through the to dos. Can't beat the feeling of crossing something off my list! I'm loving your tips!

Thanks for the chance to win! I've made a schedule (still trying to follow it! :) Also making some different types of lists..love the challenge.
ReplyDeleteI think I did most of the "challenges" Loved prioritizing and scheduling. I am accomplishing so much and for the first time in a while have a balanced life..time for work, family, spiritual and personal pursuits. When I start feeling flustered or pressured to do something I check my schedule and stick with that. Its Awesome!!! Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteI did the challenge with a friend, I really liked writing out my time priorities and mapping my time. I have already found a way to make sure I have more time to spend doing activities with my kids. Just getting priorities has helped me manage my limited time. The Meal plan sounds interesting I am going to have to check it out. We get home at 6:30 every night so dinner is always a chore.
ReplyDeleteI liked E-Mealz on Facebook. I liked the family meals. I may actually send a gift certificate to my friend her son was just put on a Gluten free diet and she is having trouble with meals.
ReplyDeleteI've only recently started following you, so I didn't complete the challenge, but I've realized I need to do better with prioritizing my time. Too much computer! I teach 1st grade full time and have 3 kids, so I'm always looking for time management tips!
ReplyDeletei follow you on my Google Reader (huge timesaver right there!)
I would choose the family meal from Kroger. We actualy just talked about this website/service at our church small group! I would LOVE to try it out!
ReplyDeleteI liked them on FB! :)
ReplyDeleteI participated in some of the challenges. The week that I tracked, I pretty much followed my time budget and it just kind of helped to relieve the guilt about not getting more done because it showed that I really don't have time to "do it all". (When I stray from my time budget/map/template--whatever you want to call it--I tend to think the reason I'm not staying on top of things is my lack of discipline.)
ReplyDeleteI also realized why I hate it so much when people give time management advice like, "Just stop watching TV. The average American watches 4-8 hours of TV a day." As I recall, I only spent about two hours watching TV the entire week.
Sounds like e-mealz has expanded since the last time I looked at it--didn't realize they had a Whole Foods option now!
Can I have more time in the day? Thanks for challenges this month, they make me ask that question much less. My list making was transformed this month. It really made a difference for me to organize my lists, and not just put everything on one. I actually translocated my lists to my planner, putting goals for each day on each day, then goals for the week on the "notes" section of the week. It made the never ending abundance of tasks much less daunting. I've never used a planner since college, because I thought I didn't need one anymore, but since I saw a cute one I liked in target I picked it up, and it's making a huge difference already.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of EZ meals, I would choose the regular menu for 1-2 (even though I have a 15 mo old son, I think we really don't need that much food) I also like this one because it only covers 5 days, leaving 1-2 days open for our favorites!
ReplyDeleteI just started following you and didn't complete very much of the challenge. I did purchase the Busy Body Book and received it today! I have already filled out February and started to work on March. I feel more organized already! I look forward to delving into your projects to feed my OCD-ness. Thanks for offering the chance to win EZ Meals. Looks like a great solution to an always present problem at our house.

I did OK with the challenge. Some days I was so busy that I couldn't even remember what I did that day or how long I did it for! One thing's for sure...I spend way too much time playing Words With Friends on Facebook. But I'm not willing to give that up just yet :)
ReplyDeleteI would choose the Regular Family Meal Plan for "other store." I'd love to try out E-mealz to see how it could save me time AND money!
ReplyDeleteP.S. To my previous comment about how I hate it when people say giving up TV would open up a lot more time in your day (I'm so glad you took the actual time tracking approach rather than making a blanket statement!). During the week, I'm not even home for four waking hours out of the day, so I'm pretty sure I'm not spending 4+ hours a day watching TV!
ReplyDeleteAs for my second entry, I would choose the vegetarian version. It would be difficult to choose though between the Walmart and any store versions. I like Walmart's prices and the fact that the menu would be based on their current sales. However, Walmart's not very convenient for me, so I may end up shopping elsewhere anyway.
Alright, accountability time. I have not been able to do any of the challenges, yet. I have the posts starred in my reader so I could get to them. I have had a very busy month but am excited to join in and catch up on the challenges.
ReplyDeleteI have visited e-mealz and such a great idea. I would choose regular family Krogers. I am not sure which Krogers because I actually live in Ohio but I hope they would be similiar enough.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog through Pinterest and Twitter. So while I didn't try these challenges, I have already started on February. Love your blog!
