Organizing For Your Brain Type

Yesterday at work we had a staff development day. During our morning meeting we had an awesome guest speaker. Lanna Lakone, author of Organizing For Your Brain Type and Every Child Has a Thinking Style, talked to us about the different types of people and how they organize. It was so eye opening and helped me learn how to "organize with others" who don't have the same mindset as me. I'm a maintainer, while I believe Chris is a harmonizer. (You can find out about your organizing style here.)

I was in heaven during the hour and a half lecture she gave. She told us that last year we spent 9 million hours searching for things. Umm...what? That's crazy. And 30 minutes of planning can save you 4 hours of time in the future. I totally believe that one. So much valuable information was given.

We all received a copy of her book, Organizing for Your Brain Type, and I haven't dived in yet, but I'm super excited to. Once I read it, I'll be sure to summarize what I learned.

  1. OK, so I took the quiz to tell me what type I am, and my answers were 4 As, 3 Bs, 4 Cs, and 4Ds - and coincidently, I would've classified myself as a B - harmonizing style. What the heck am I? LOL

  2. I will be checking out both the book and the site. I envy you such a great guest trainer! Looking forward to your summary. I have often wondered how professional organizers are able to create systems that work for each individual client knowing that there are no one size fits all solutions when it comes to organizing. I know DH and I must certainly be different types! :)
