The October Project is the most popular group of posts thanks to Pinterest. I covered quite a few things related to paper clutter in October. I'm more than happy to cover the same topics again, but if you have any other ideas related to paper clutter, please let me know.
Leave a comment below and tell me what you need help organizing that is related to paper clutter. It can literally be anything that has to do with paper. Paper clutter will be March's challenge, so the more ideas I can get, the better the posts will be! If you have any tips to share regarding paper clutter, I'd love to hear them as well. Maybe you'll be featured in an upcoming post! =]

I find it it difficult to categorize my files. When I do, I then forget what I've put in the file, or where I've put the file. It sounds simply but not for me.
ReplyDeleteI am an Elementary Ed major, so I have accumulated a TON of lesson plans, resources, etc that will be useful SOMEDAY, but for now- not so much. Do you think it's best to file by curricular area? Grade level? Something else?
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
I would like to know how to store greeting cards given to me and my son. Do I keep them or throw them out? If I keep them, what kind of container do I use?
ReplyDeleteI would like to know how you organize your receipts. Which receipts do you keep and which do you toss? Also have you ever used Evernote to digitize your files? I use it a little, but haven't found a good way to digitize my receipts.
ReplyDeleteMy paper clutter problem is magazine articles. I fold down the pages of magazines if there's a recipe, article, ad, anything, that I want to refer back to at a later date. I tried saving all my recipes in an online program and that kind of works, but not as well as it should. I saw your suggestion for scanning them and saving and filing them on the computer. That would be awesome but the backlog is mighty. I do usually purge the magazines a couple times a year and save the torn out pages. Not in a specific place but in a nice pile.
ReplyDeleteMy paper clutter problems are endless. We have a daughter with a lot of medical problems, so we have stacks and stacks of medical papers. I started out with a simple file labeled "baby" but then it got too confusing when I wanted to find the most recent MRI bill versus that magazine article on introducing solids that I had saved months ago, all in the same file. So I started a separate medical notebook... but now my medical notebook is bulging and since she has added new services to her medical plan, I have run out of tabs for all the various doctors in the notebook. Then when tax season arrived, I needed to sort through all of the bills to make our medical claims, but then I realized that since my bills and whatnot were organized by doctor, they were not organized by date! Lets just say tax season was a disaster. Now we're expecting our second baby and I am thinking I've got to figure out a better system! ANy ideas you have would be GREAT! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteReceipts, receipts and receipts.....
ReplyDeleteMagazine articles ... and recipes .... I have organized recipe binders (Entree, Salads/Sides, Desserts/Sweets, Breads,) but where to put the recipes I want to try?
ReplyDeleteI find myself overwhelmed with the daily mail! I have a basket right next to out indoor mail drop and this is where I put all mail until I have a chance to go through it. I find it very time consuming to stay on top of the bills, junk, adds and magazines.
ReplyDeleteA few tips I have - Tip #1 for restaurant menus that I like to have on hand I use a binder with the plastic sleeves. It is so easy to use and now my family can just look through the book to see the menu and decided where to head if we are eating out!
Tip #2 - I have a yearly calendar (bought at the dollar tree) that I use to keep my bills organized. Once I get a bill I open it and on the envelope I write the due date and amount owed. I then write the same information in the calendar on the due date. This way I should never miss a bill as I can look back at months past to make sure all bills are in and paid. I am sure we have all had a bill not arrive on time for what ever reason and this way I don't nessecarly need the bill to make sure it is paid and not get dinged with a late charge!
BTW I really enjoy your blog and appreciate all the tips you share with us! Keep up the great work!
I am greatly overwhelmed with my collection of writing papers, as in stationery. What is a cute way to organize them so they won't get bent? There is also the question of how do I store the penpal letters that I keep, to later peruse and reread? I also have to figure out a place to store my incoming penpal letters. For example, where should I put them while they're waiting to be answered? Thank you in advance for your help.
ReplyDeleteI have been working through my paper clutter using tips from your October Project, but I can't figure out what to do with all the photos and the kids' artwork I keep running across. I know I want to scrapbook it all, but where should it go in the meantime? I am sure some of this should be simple, but sometimes I just need someone to tell me what to do. :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the blog. Thank you so much for the time you put into it!
I decided to tackle our paper clutter head on before moving. We requested that all accounts be transferred to paperless correspondence and we are now down to about 1 or 2 pieces of mail a week, all of which typically get burned. I'm a serious list maker and collector of all things food related, so mail wasn't the only issue. To solve this problem, we bought a tablet, transferred all magazine subscriptions to electronic subscriptions, and saved everything else near and dear as a pdf file on the tablet. I now use a handful of apps to make lists, keep track of groceries, and house needs. I didn't expect the purchase to be so useful, but we've not just been clutter free, but paperless for months now and love it!
ReplyDeleteI am soooo overwhelmed with paper clutter. I am a pile person! I have piles everywhere! Need tips to organize kids school papers and notices, receipts, medical bills/eobs, magazine articles etc.
ReplyDeleteEven for just me and my husband, we seem to get so much paper clutter! I would love some advice on exactly how long certain documents should be kept--I feel like I hang onto tons of things "just in case."
ReplyDeleteHello - my name is Tami and I'm a freebieaholic and a coupon queen.
ReplyDeleteI can get X magazine for free? Really? Doesn't go with anything I'd read, who cares?
The neighbors send over heir papers so can cut them up and put them up in my binder.
Why can't I succeed?
